A Childrens Garden

As I found it
This garden was designed for a young couple with 2 Autistic children. They wanted to get their children to have a better connection with nature and a connection with growing food.
The brief was simple, 'we want an edible front yard with some local native plants, the trampoline must stay and we want a small section of turf'. I have installed 40000 liters of rainwater catchment to water the raised vegetable gardens the 'orchard' which contains 2 x Plums, Apple, Nectarine and an Almond trees. These are under planted with a number of herbs including Oregano, Sage, Thyme and Rosemary. I have included a natural sand play area to keep the children entertained in between vegetable time. All the existing elements of the garden were retained or reused.
The plants that were removed were chipped and put back on the garden. The plants were grown and supplied by a local nursery who train people with disabilities. This space has become a bit of a local hangout for parents and children as there is a school across the road.
